Sam Bankman-Fried's appeal against his conviction and 25-year sentence will be heard by the Second Circuit in the first week of November 2025. The case was added to the docket two years after his conviction, following a proposed calendaring order filed on July 30, 2025.

Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York sentenced Bankman-Fried on March 28, 2024, after a November 2023 conviction on seven counts, including wire fraud, securities fraud, and money laundering conspiracy. The case has been under review by the Second Circuit since spring 2024, with both sides disputing trial fairness, evidence sufficiency, and alleged procedural errors.

While the specifics of SBF's appeal arguments remain sealed, legal observers suggest challenges may focus on evidentiary handling, jury instructions, and testimony restrictions. The defense seeks either a new trial or a full reversal. Prosecutors, in their December 2024 reply, maintained the trial's fairness and the verdict's evidentiary strength.
